20 Years of Supporting Families – Stronger Together
In 2027, Family Support Link celebrates 20 years of supporting families across Northamptonshire who are affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use.
Since our beginnings in 2007, we’ve grown from a small telephone helpline into a respected local charity, providing vital support, guidance and hope to hundreds of families every year.
To mark this special milestone, we’re planning a programme of celebrations throughout 2027, bringing together the people, families, volunteers, supporters and organisations who have been part of our journey.
We’ll be sharing details of our anniversary events and activities here, so keep checking back to find out how you can get involved!
20 Years. Stronger Together.
Our “20 for 20” Anniversary Competition
Help us celebrate 20 years of Family Support Link!
We’re looking for 20 great ideas to help shape our anniversary celebrations throughout 2027.
Whether it’s a fundraising event, community activity, creative challenge or something completely different, we’d love to hear your suggestions!
There are four competition categories:
- Child Client (up to age 11)
- Teen Client (12–17 years)
- Adult Client (18+)
- Staff Member/Volunteer
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, there will be a prize for the winning idea in each category.
The four winning ideas will form part of our anniversary celebrations, and other suggestions may also be included in our “20 for 20” programme.

Thank you Family Support Link
I started getting support around 6 years ago. When I had the horrific experience of 2 family members with alcohol addiction. I got and I am still getting support from this lovely organisation. They are a great team helping me feel my self-worth and a very stronger person that I am now.
I was not alone
The 1:1 support enabled me to vent my feelings and helped me see the importance of looking after myself at the time of crisis. I think it prevented me from having a breakdown. The weekly group meetings let me know I was not alone in what I was going through.
Gain strength from my meetings
My support worker has been a rock, pointing out situations to me and showing me a clear vision of the directions which I may/may not take. The name Family Support couldn't be more precise, and I am grateful for each time I see her, knowing I must be strong with myself.
Grateful to have been referred to FSL
Just having someone to talk to who would listen and offer understanding and provide professional advice which was non-judgemental was a massive help as it helped me to see things a lot clearer. I am definitely in a much better place now than I was, to handle any difficulties that could arise in the future.
