28th July 2016
On 28th July 2016, S2S came to the Family Support Link office in Wellingborough to deliver a Naloxone training session to staff and families accessing our service.
Eight members of staff and five family members attended the training session. Naloxone is a medication which can be used to block the effects of an opiate overdose.
The training covered techniques to save someone's life if they are experiencing an overdose, what Naloxone is, what it is used for, how to obtain it and how to administer it. The session also covered information about a useful mobile app which can be used as a step-by-step guide in an emergency situation.
Trained family members will be able to access and sign for Naloxone pre-filled kits from S2S to use in order to reverse the effects of an opiate overdose in an emergency situation.
